ammonium metavanadate is used as a catalyst in the same manner as the vanadium pentoxide. It is used as a reagent in analytical chemistry, and as the developer in the photographs. Ammonium metavanadate is also used for dyeing and printing on the cloth in the textile industry.

Moderately soluble in water, soluble in ethanol and diethyl ether.
